After doing a lot of research online and visiting about 6 clubs, we settled on this club. I was looking for a club that is clean (check), welcoming (check), and some place where you could take a deep breath because it doesn't smell like really old gym socks (check). My kids and I also trust our instinct about a place and felt really good about the owner Adam and his clientele. This is a family-oriented place but don't let that make you think that it's not a \"serious\" club. It really is. My kids have learned so much in just 3 days. They are more confident and feel more secure already. They watch with awe as Adam's 11-year-old student flips an adult double her weight and height. What's more is that Adam is truly a caring person. He understands how to make his students feel comfortable and to trust him which is necessary when you are doing a sport that requires so much proximity and physical contact. As a teacher myself, I have to also commend Adam's organization and instructional approach. He has flow charts of his curriculum on the walls. He has attendance cards for each student and a system for attendance. This helps with tracking for belts among other things. Additionally, he has separate changing rooms for men and women, clean and well-kept floor mats with ample space, a cold water fountain, many tools he uses as well as ropes that hang from the ceiling. As someone who has taken my kids to fencing and music lessons for years, something else that blew me away is that Adam has a 16-week course that he runs with his students. My kids entered in the 5th week of a cycle and he knows exactly what techniques they still need to learn. I've experienced a lot of instructors over the years as my kids took lessons and this is only the 2nd time I've come across an instructor who has so much science to his approach. Adam is very methodical in his instruction and uses a lot of spiraling and scaffolding. He is very patient and my kids actually enjoy going to his classes. He is also a Marine with real-world combat experience and his military training and discipline are clear in how he instructs. He has a lounge for parents with monitors to view classes and a kids area for little ones who are waiting for a family member. Finally, his rates are competitive with all the other clubs I looked at, and for the same price, you can attend every day if you'd like. I hope this review has helped you as you search for the best for you and/or your family. I suggest you visit a lot of clubs to see what they're like; most clubs offer free trial lessons; visit Adam's club too. I am sure you will be happy, too. Good luck!"^^ . "0"^^ . .
