. "2013-07-12T00:00:00"^^ . "I stopped using Chas Roberts a few years ago, but I recently had the misfortune of having sellers use them on the home I was buying. This prompted me to search Yelp to see if service has improved, and provide my feedback.\n\nIn my previous home they installed a Trane in such a way that I cannot pull the filter out without bending the metal. If they had only moved it 2 inches to the right, but I suppose that would be too much to ask.\n\nThey also sold me an electrostatic filter for ~$1100, however after running for a day or two the air would 'smell' of ion. After repeat visits, Chas promised that they would get a Trane engineer out to take a look. Never happened, I gave up.\n\nOn a later maintenance visit (I had prepaid for 3 years worth of service), the tech told me to shut the static filter off...great solution, and was Chas going to refund me the ~$1100? Heck no.\n\nSo now I am buying a home, the home inspector said we should have the HVAC checked out due to some AC split readings, the current homeowner uses Chas and Chas report 'no issues' with the HVAC....great. I guess I will be footing the bill when the HVAC breaks down the day after I close.\n\n-- Update --\n\nWas on yelp and read the canned response from Chas Roberts about valuing customer service blah blah blah. Which is interesting, because that isn't what they demonstrated when I had issues with the electrostatic filter.\n\nAnyway, 2 of 3 AC units had fans replaced within 2 months of me moving in, so much for Chas Roberts inspection giving them the all clear."^^ .
