But I'm relaying info directly from him! The last time we moved was about 4 years ago and it was cross-country (Atlanta to Vegas) - it was a complete nightmare. No joke, I basically have Moving PTSD because it was so bad. Those movers were a nightmare: we got scammed and everything that could go wrong, did. So to say I was nervous this time around is a real understatement. So I asked friends for recommendations, I read reviews here on Yelp. I didn't go into this blindly! \n\nI had a great phone experience with Megan (another woman helped me too, can't remember her name but she was equally fantastic). They were very kind, very helpful and professional. They remembered me and my needs when we called back later. Also, they were able to schedule movers for us for the very next day, which I didn't think would happen. \n\nSo the movers (think it was Carlos and Noe) were first scheduled to arrive at 12-12:30 at our storage unit. I'm 9 months pregnant and it was 107 degrees but I went with my husband to wait for them to arrive. They called around 12:30 and said they couldn't make it, needed to move to 3:00. Ok, not a great start but things happen. We got food, visited Ikea, killed a bunch of time and went back. They showed around 3:15 and got to work. Things went fine loading up the truck, finished in about 45 minutes which is great. Good so far! \n\nThings went downhill when they got to our new house. It's a 3-floor house so yes, there are stairs. They started to complain about the stairs pretty quickly. If we're paying professional movers, we don't want to hear complaints. If it were friends or family doing the moving? We'd expect that. Not for around $300 for 3 hours (the minimum required to book and all we needed)! My husband specifically said what he wanted where, they didn't listen and tried to just dump everything in the room downstairs. He had to repeatedly say, just the mattresses and desk down here, everything else needs to go upstairs. Then they said they'd need an extra half hour to move everything - even though there was still an hour and a half left before the first 3 hours were up! Husband said no way, they ended up finished 25 minutes early. We had a regular garage-size storage unit with some furniture and boxes, nothing anywhere remotely unusual or unexpected for pro's. They only had to put our washer & dryer in the garage (no steps)! This really shouldn't have been a tough job for them. Also, their phones were ringing - and answered - far too much. Carlos apparently spent at least 15 minutes on the phone at one point. I'm sorry but when you're paid per hour, you focus on the work and do the phone calls off the clock. Especially if you're going to say you're going to need extra time?? Nope, nope, nope. \n\nSo overall, the work got done. They didn't clean up after themselves at all, left trash and stuff (crumpled paper, used tape, etc.) strewn around. So we're disappointed. That was just a bit less than half of our move, the rest has to happen in a week or two, we'll be calling someone else. If you work as movers, you can't complain about moving stuff - especially not for $80+ an hour."^^ . "2016-07-03T00:00:00"^^ .
