I would like to bring to your attention that I know I am a victim of poor customer service and I have reason to believe I am a victim of biased suspicion during my stay at the Sleep Inn located at 701 Yorkmont Road Charlotte, NC 28217. This incident took place on May 27, 2018 at approximately 6:15 a.m.\nWhile trying to enjoy my breakfast I was approached by a woman dressed in uniform and bearing a Sleep Inn name badge. She doesn't say excuse me or good morning but proceeds to loudly badger me with unwarranted questions. Repeated questions such as who are you, what are you doing, are you a guest here, what's your name and what's your room number. It took me some time to gather my thoughts because it caught me off guard but after seeing that she was an employee I provided her with my name, room number and even showed her my rom key. She then proceeds to pat me on my back like I was a child that just did a good job by answering her questions. Before I could fully process everything that just happened she had walked away.\nI stood up and walked over to the front desk where a young man named Ron was working. I asked him was it regular practice for Hotel staff to badger their guests with questions while they are trying to eat. He proceeds to tell me yes and that they implemented this policy after a couple of incidences where people who were not hotel guests were found taking part in the free continental breakfast. I asked Ron why then did she ask only me. Why didn't she ask the same questions to the other hotel guests sitting and eating. Why did she ask the only African American sitting down and not the other 6 caucasian guests. Ron proceeds to tell me that I raised suspicion and that's why I was approached. I asked him how did I raise suspicion which he could not answer. I was neatly dressed, quiet and sitting just like everyone else. The only obvious difference was the color of my skin. Suspicion he said.\nI would like to think that as a hotel guest, a platinum choice rewards member and a human being that I would not have to deal or experience such a disgusting display of rudeness, hate, bigotry and plain racism from anyone especially the hotel staff. I am hurt, appalled and downright disgusted to have been embarrassed like this. To have this happen aloud in front of other people. Matter of fact to have this happen at all was totally unnecessary. Your hotel which boasts to be clean, friendly and updated was the exact opposite and far from true. The rooms are mediocre, hallways are dirty and every floor smells of cigarettes and marijuana in what's supposed to be a smoke free facility. I called down to the front desk later that day to obtain the last names of the front desk attendant and of the woman who approached me. I was told her name was Karen and that she worked in transportation. I was informed that it was against hotel policy to provide me with any last names.\nI want to say again that this incident was distasteful and uncalled for. Not making myself any better than anyone else but as a platinum choice rewards member who frequents choice hotel facilities I feel I deserve a little more common courtesy and respect in your establishment. I am requesting to speak to someone of stature and authority within the choice hotels chain as soon as possible. This situation needs to be addressed and handled with utmost care and professionalism. I wish to not carry this incident any further than I have to. I can be reached at the following email addresses or whatever social platform that brings this matter to your attention. Looking forward to speaking with you.\n \nSincerely,\nJason L Sanders\n \nJason.sanders@pb.com\nsndrsjs@gmail.com\n \n#shameonyou\n#wegottadobetter\n#choicehotels\n#SleepInn\n#GM.NC084@choicehotels.com"^^ .
