"As the pride of Midtown we here in the city, of Central Phoenix, are so lucky to have this spacious, lush park featuring a rather grand 'Wall of Water' fountain at the head of a small amphitheater, in the park's just south of center of waters edge of the large, refreshing pond for ducks, geese and fish to inhabit while revelers stroll the waters edge. Plus a decent sized dog park at the NE end complements a nice kiddy playground at the NW end, in addition to the picnic ramadas scattered all throughout. Soul seekers may find solace in the spiral labyrinth set amongst the beautifully done desert landscape, just off center of the SW end in which to ponder nothing and everything as you meander downward toward the water feature at the labyrinth's core complete with small meditation benches along the way. Back tracking this takes you up to a covered bridge leading over another smaller pond to the shade of man made structures and trees stippled amongst more grass. Park entrances with ample parking and restrooms can be found nearly in all corners of the park, accessed from Central Avenue, plus another access from 7th Street, both north of Indian School Road with the largest parking lot, at the park's SE corner through the main entrance of 3rd St and Indian School Road. \n\nLike many other folks, I have spent a lot of hours exercising and walking all around here with my dogs. Also, with acres of grass and trees, bird watching along with water features to enjoy, fishing, or seeing my dog note each small critter as it scampers about (SQUIRREL!), makes for an all around glorious respite from the rush of artificial city life. A simple but breathtaking sight to behold are flocks of geese coming into arrowhead formation to land on the large pond during their migration. It's one of My Favorite Things. \n\nAlso, the city is permitting all sorts of large events (without overkilling it) held here on some weekends which makes good use of the space during nice weather. I am blessed to live within easy access of one of this city's finest features. I remember when this was basically a vacant lot of tumbleweeds, aside from the old Indian School structures which are now mostly restored and getting ready to be put to good use. Also in keeping with the original purpose of the Indian School grounds, there are nods to the culture evident in every aspect of this park, so aptly named. Thank you city planners! This park rocks!"^^ . "2017-04-02T00:00:00"^^ . "0"^^ .
