"They say you should have a good doctor, dentist. lawyer and mechanic on your 'life' team...(and I guess spouse but im single so I digress...)\nBoth of my visits to Gilman Auto were prompted by a need for a 'second opinion' where I heard a sound and was told 'A' and the exorbitant amount of money said repair would cost. Fearing the worst, I seeked Gilman......\n\nLESS than $100 later (as opposed to the '$600' I was quoted from my previous mechanic), I was driving a noise free truck. This is not to knock the previous quote - giving him the benefit of the doubt, he may have genuinely believed that his diagnosis wouldve solved the issue but such wasnt the case.\n\nAnd my visit before was similar. \nAn easy fix accompanied by a logical explanation of how said part afflicted the Accord. Im a big fan of the 'logical explanation' btw. A affects B causing C. None of this 'ohhhh, well its time to change that anyway' crap. And whats more - without even putting the car on the hoist, Raymond described how mechanics (not necessarily deceptively mind you) will bolt up said part as a workaround instead of ordering the proper clamps and pressure kit in the first place. In other words - he had just described to me what the mechanic had done just the week prior to my truck by listening to the lame attempt of my trying to imitate the 'chirp' I was hearing. lol\n\nThis is a typical mechanic shop with the typical array of assorted binders, missing tiles, gadgets, and 'whats thats' scattered in a mad scientist sort of organized confusion if you will. Take for instance the small Autobot Transformer that stands peacefully on the counter built with an assortment of tiny discarded parts...\n\nTruth be told - most of us could care less about the more than adequate waiting room - just be on point with the repair and Raymond and his team have done so every time. He truly knows his stuff and you never get the feeling that you're being 'taken for a ride'. And this is just personal for me, but while I wait, I hate having my ear talked off....lol. Sorry, just me...but its true. As friendly as Raymond is, he is about his business...he's not gonna come and stir up discussions about the Raptors or about the 'fine weather we're having this week'. Im allowed to work away on my tablet, glance at the television etc all while getting the occasional appreciated update of the progress of my repair. If I have a question, he's more than willing to explain it in a way that I can understand - otherwise, im left to relax knowing my car is in good hands.\n\n(....and my Raptors couldnt even win ONE GAME THIS POST SEASON IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING..........)\n\nIN closing, Id like to say this......my 2nd visit involved my truck. That was the clamp thing for about $50. While luxuriating in the waiting room on my tablet, I remembered something I had experienced with my 2nd car. As the first job was finished, I casually described it to Raymond in which case he replied 'no problem, bring it by'. I hadnt even paid for the first job and he trusted me to drive home and swap cars for the 2nd repair of the day. You say - 'yeah but he probably had your license plate/VIN' to which I reply 'doubt it but even still, he still couldve taken the cash in my pocket to conclude the first transaction after which id have went home and swapped cars'. It wasnt about the money - he wanted to be sure the 'chirp' was gone and I was 100% satisfied. \nThats a character move right there....\nOh and with both repairs including the swap - I was out of there by 11am that morning.\n\nRaymond - its bittersweet in that its such a pleasure knowing that I have someone with your expertise on my team. \nI just hope I never have to see you again!\n\nAnd its reassuring to know that you and the guys are trying you're very best to ensure that!! :) \n\nCheers"^^ .
