As a kid I loved it because I got to see animals that I would otherwise not be able to see in real life. However, as a adult, I look at these lovely animals caged and in a imitation of their real environment. We went in the colder months to avoid the crowds. The pandas were great to see. The camels were amusing. The otters were hilarious (just as I remembered as a child). The giraffes broke my heart. They were in their tall complex just circling over and over. They looked trapped and unhappy. The complex was certainly large to us but way too small for the giraffes. It just seemed cruel. The apes, monkeys and orangutans seemed well settled. The animals look well cared for and the zoo is well maintained. I am glad for that but I guess I just would prefer animals not to be on display for our entertainment. Such mixed feelings. If you do go, wear really good walking shoes, bring water and plan ahead because the place is large. Other reviewers have great tips like ordering tickets online. It is very pricey so hopefully the money is going back into the care of the animals."^^ . . "0"^^ .
