"This would have easily been a 4-star review if it weren't for some false Facebook advertising that resulted in some disappointment, beer thirst, and hunger pangs.\n\nLast week I received an invite via Facebook to the Praying Monk Grand Opening on May 17th featuring \"a familiar-meets-fun complimentary beer and food pairing.\" The invite also described the opportunity to \" sample Chef May's award winning cuisine paired with beer cocktails from Mickey Venerable or enjoy beer flights and can beer on the stylish patio while Jon Creasey dishes up tunes from behind the piano.\" That sounds like an awesome party, right? Right!\n\nWell, I spent over 2 hours at the packed event tonight and was never offered or even saw one complimentary beer or food item. I searched high and low for the beer flights to no avail, and I definitely did not see or hear a piano. Cans of beer were available on the patio.... for $6.\n\nNevertheless, I decided to make the best of the night and was happy with the lively atmosphere and very friendly, outgoing staff. I loved the House Sauvignon Blanc and the comfy yellow sofas, but a larger bar area with more seating would have better served the crowd. The outside patio looked unfinished (some plants or decoration would be nice) and I was not impressed with whomever decided that only 2 stalls were needed in the ladies room.\n\nI enjoyed my night at the Praying Monk, despite my initial sulk, and I would happily return for drinks with friends. This is an Aaron May restaurant after all, so I have every confidence in the excellence of the food, service, and atmosphere. Cheers to memorable nights to come!"^^ . . "2012-05-18T00:00:00"^^ .
