"Loco Lime bills itself on its website as a \"Mexican Inspired Grill,\" and based on that I went expecting something that took the familiar Mexican fare we Norte Americanos know to new culinary frontiers. After having dinner there, though, the tagline at best works as a disclaimer: this is standard but inauthentic Mexican restaurant fare.\n\nThe food was good. I have had better Mexican food in Charlotte and I definitely have had worse. But there was nothing inspired and nothing distinctive about the food.\n\nThe margaritas and the salsa served before the meal both were quite good. The service was excellent. Someone who appeared to be a manager-owner type stopped by for a standard inquiry but also apologized for the fact that our area was full of very young and somewhat noisy kids. When I ordered the enchiladas de mole, the waitress asked me if I had had mole sauce before, which makes me wonder if maybe their target customer does not really like Mexican food. But, she was prompt and attentive.\n\nSomeone described the interior as \"industrial\", and to my eye that was generous. It looked to me instead that the lack of any aesthetic was driven by budget instead.\n\nThe only inspiration I took from the meal was a renewed determination to find great Mexican food in Charlotte."^^ . .
