"I chose All About Blinds and Shutters to cover a patio door that s approximately 8 feet high by 7.5 feet wide, and a large sliding glass wall is 14 feet wide by 8 feet tall. Chris came out and took measurements and presented our options. I made all my selections and was quoted a price of $2664, a production window, and approximate installation date. This all went off without a hitch (5 week turn-around).\n\nBefore installation, during a follow-up conversation with Chris, he advised me that there had been a mistake made in pricing the shades and they weren't \"making any money on this deal because we priced it wrong.\" I'm not sure if that was to make me feel sorry for them or guilty or what, but I mention it because I believe it may explain the half-hearted approach to the remainder of their service that followed...\n\nWhen the shades arrived Cory came out to install them. At the end of installation, he realized he had no remotes to operate them - they apparently were never ordered. This rendered the shades completely nonoperational. He informed me that he'd have to order one and that he wasn't sure how long that would take to come in.\n\nIt was six days for the remote to arrive and Cory and the owner, Larry, came out to sync it with the shades. This took almost two hours. It was as if neither of them had ever done it before. At one point, Cory used his phone to watch a YouTube video on how to complete the process. Maybe this aspect of installation is more complicated than I give it credit for, but it would seem like if this is what you do for a living it should be a fairly intuitive and simple process. Once they had finished and I was able to use the remote to move them up and down on my own, I noticed one was tilted. When I pointed it out, Cory and Larry spent another hour troubleshooting and attempting to explain away or blame the home construction for the problem.\n\nFirst, they blamed it on the fact that it was hitting the baseboard when the shade was fully extended and that was causing it to push off a touch which was causing the crookedness. It wasn't. But even if it was, that would be a measuring mistake on their part and the fabric should have been cut narrower to avoid that.\n\nThen, they attempted to tell me that the window wasn't built level - that it was actually arced which was causing the left handed bracket to be raised slightly higher than the right, and that's why it was crooked and there was absolutely nothing they could do about that. I protested by saying surely not all homes are built laser-level-perfect and there must be some kind of contingency in place to hang blinds and shades level or make slight adjustments to account for that. And even still, if it were bowed why wouldn't the other shades hung along the same sill suffer from crookedness as well?\n\nThe conversation and near-arguing went on and on and before Larry finally gave in saying, \"The only thing I can do is try to contact another company who makes another bracket and see if we can fix it that way. That's it.\" He sounded very annoyed, though I'm not sure what right he had to feel that way. No matter what the cause of the problem the bottom line is that the shade was obviously crooked and it's their responsibility to fix it.\n\n*DAY 2*\nAt the start of the business day, All About Blinds and Shutters immediately charged the remaining balance to a credit card I specifically asked them NOT to use (in the long run it doesn't really matter, but it's one I had paid off and was keeping $0 balance). Now that they have all their money, there's probably zero incentive for them to make things right by continuing to fix the problems and complete the job in its entirety. I phoned to ask why the wrong card was charged and not the secondary one I approved but they did not answer nor did they return my call by end of business day (message left approximately 11am).\n\nI have since worked on making adjustments to the shade myself and have corrected the problem quite a bit. I should have taken pictures beforehand when it was at its worst, but the issue can still be easily seen for the purposes of this review.\n\nI will decline to allow Larry or the company back to work on it any longer as I have no faith in their ability to perform the job properly and I am worried that the removal and re-installation of another bracket will either:\n1. not work properly and make the crooked problem worse \n2. fix the crooked problem but cause a new problem with the leveling of the valances\n3. completely compromise the integrity of the window sill, causing no brackets to hold, and ruining the entire installation.\n\n*DAY 3*\nLong past close of business day on a Friday and still no return call. I don't expect one over the weekend.\n\nFeel free to message me here on Yelp if you have any questions at all or to ask me about any rebuttal my review receives."^^ .
