Even on a Sunday, there were plentiful vendors and the hours are excellent as it's often open until 6 pm. \n\nThe layout is very straightforward with similar vendors together and while there is solid variety, it's heavily emphasized on fresh produce. We loved the fruit samples of pears and apples but everything is fresh, colorful, and affordable. The maple syrup vendors are also plentiful and maple candy made in ice is a popular and cheap ($1.50) treat for all. \n\nWhile there is some San Francisco Ferry Building feel (for those from California or the West Coast) the market is not quite as gentrified nor there as many Restaurant and seafood options. In fact, it took me some time to find the popular seafood market and it was smaller and less busy than I expected (not comparable to Hog Island). \n\nOverall, we were happy to stop by, spend an hour or two, and return to Old Montreal where most of the sites and walking tours are located. \n\nMarche Jean Talon is largely cash only so make sure to visit an ATM beforehand."^^ . .
