I have only ever leased my vehicles and when I was pregnant with my fourth child, I turned in my Camry at the end of the lease and was looking for a used vehicle to ship to Hawaii. I let the salesman, Jay Gentry, know I was moving to Hawaii within 6 months to which he said \"NO problem, you should lease a brand new vehicle.\" He ensured me that there would be no issue when it came to moving to Hawaii, that it would be safer and more reliable to lease a new vehicle. Fast forward 6 months into my lease and I read my contract. It states I must get permission from Toyota to ship my car. I call and they say I can't ship a lease to Hawaii. I either pay the $12k I agreed to pay and return it OR buy it. Great options right? Cuz a mother of 4 just has $12k laying around yeah? I go back to the dealership and the sales guy simply said \"I didn't know you couldn't do that.\" It gets even worse. So I get to Hawaii and call Toyota to establish a relationship and figure out what I need to do as far as servicing and whatnot. SURPRISE, Toyota servco will not honor my warranty because I purchased it in the mainland. Wtf? Alright. So I maintain my vehicle with no issues for 2 1/2 yrs. At 3 yrs and 3 weeks and 37,000 miles, I take it to my local shop to get serviced and low and behold, I get hit with a $1600 bill because the struts are leaking. The mechanic says \"this kind of thing starts to happen at 60,000. Call Toyota, the warranty is thru the manufacturer, not the dealer. This shouldn't be happening at under 40,000 miles.\" Yet again, I call and get a different answer. \"Oh yeah, you HAD a warranty...but it expired 3 weeks ago. It states it in your owners manual.\" So I email customer service advising them of the above and that I would like to give them the opportunity to rectify the misinformation and lack of service. They take 4 days only to respond with \"we only deal with continental U.S and Alaska. You'll need to contact your local dealer. Let me know us know if you need anything else.\" Ummm you couldn't even do me the courtesy of forwarding my email to wherever the hell it needs to go? Just tell me to contact my local Toyota? I contacted my local Toyota 48 hrs into my email since no one had contacted me yet. Still haven't heard from the local dealer. I pay my bill on time, every month. Have NEVER been late in making my payments. Thanks a lot Toyota for providing me with incorrect information and costing me money that should be going towards my children. Thanks for the lack of accountability and lack of service. I will NEVER suggest Toyota to anyone and will be sure to let everyone know how you do business. I've never even so much as got an apology from ANYONE at Toyota. Just passing me off between two Toyota entities. SHAME ON TOYOTA!!!! Maybe I should just stop paying. Maybe then I'll get a call back instead of a lousy email that says go contact somebody else. Toyota is a joke with a bunch of clowns working for them."^^ .
