This coffee shop is tucked into a little corner on Freeport Road in Blawnox, which makes it really convenient for those of us who work in Fox Chapel--it's approximately a five-minute drive from RIDC Park.\nCurbside's sandwich and soup menu rotates daily, which is great as far as mixing it up & trying new things. I was kinda disappointed that on the day I dropped in, they had only one vegetarian sandwich. The owners manning the caf\u00E9 were helpful in pointing out which items they had were veg--aside from the sarnie, they were offering a veg-friendly soup & always have fresh vegetables & dip available. They sold me on the vegetarian wrap, which was made with spinach-artichoke hummus and featured tasty asparagus spears. They were equally helpful answering my coffee questions--these people know their coffee, which is sourced from Commonplace & Kiva Han. WIN. My iced coffee was fantastic. Rather than simply chilling their old coffee, Curbside actually cold-presses their beans. It went perfectly with the chewy, tastylicious macaroon I added to my order. \nSadly, the wrap was a little disappointing, but only because they make & wrap their sarnies in advance. So it wasn't totally fresh & made to order, which means the tortilla was a little smushy. However, the veggies they used tasted super-fresh, and the artichokes in the hummus gave the whole thing a nice tang. (To be fair, though, they are called Curbside COFFEEhouse.)\nThe atmosphere is decent, although I didn't stick around long enough to really get a feel for it. It seems like a nice, comfortable place to hang out, have a cup of coffee, and read the newspaper. If you feel like socializing, the owners are really chatty and pleasant to talk to. Props for customer service, guys! \nBottom line: good food, super-friendly proprietors, EXCELLENT coffee."^^ . . . "2011-04-21T00:00:00"^^ .
