"2017-10-28T00:00:00"^^ . "Higher priced and lower quality. Went in today for their 5th anniversary 'party' today and the place was quiet as usual. The flyers said they would have samples, prizes and more in store, but all they had were mini vanilla cupcakes out, and you could earn a single raffle ticket if you spent more than $10. Okay, this wasn't NOT what they had advertised, but it was a bit of a letdown. Nevertheless, on to the cupcakes.\n\nI ordered a half a dozen, usual price is $16+ tax (comes out to about $3 a cupcake). I thought it was okay value a year or two ago when I got 6 cupcakes for about $13, but it's getting a little out of hand now. I never loved their cupcakes, but they did have a nice variety. I tried two of the cupcakes I bought today, the pumpkin spice and the lemon drop. Their cupcakes always just seemed like empty sugar to me, but these ones were different. The pumpkin spice cake part was good. The icing, however, tasted like plain butter with a little hint of brown sugar. It literally just tasted tasted like butter on a pumpkin spice loaf. I'm not sure if my palette has just refined itself, but I don't understand why everyone is raving about these. They look nice, but they don't taste it. The lemon drop was just plain white cake with the same sort of very plain buttercream and a drop of lemon curd in the middle (which I'm not sure if they make in store or not, as it had a strange chemical aftertaste).\n\nService isn't the best either, they're just trying to get the job done. Didn't have a smile, or any small chit chat about which cupcakes are popular or anything like that. Really put a bad taste in my mouth.\n\ntl;dr: Quality has gone down. Time to find a new cupcake place for the East end."^^ . . "3"^^ . "2"^^ . . "0"^^ . . "0"^^ .
