It may be that things like banking services aren't so easy to evaluate in this format. There are many, many variables with banking services and many ways that people can have a less-than-ideal experience. My main interest is with the basics of checking and savings. I'm not currently in the market for lending.\n\nUltimately, I decided to go with the credit union because I've typically had good experiences with credit unions in other towns, and I like the idea of a not-for-profit, etc.\n\nMy experience has been generally positive. Folks at the Credit Union were helpful in my setup phase. They even provided free notary service for some closing documentation I needed to fill out for the house I sold in my old hometown. The online banking system is not the most user-friendly one I've encountered, but it seems passable.\n\nAll-in-all, I feel like this is a reliable operation, and I think that basic level of peace-of-mind is the thing that matters most to me in banking. I have to assume other national banks would be better for ATM convenience and things like that, but I've always found myself paying ATM fees, regardless of the bank I'm with, so I'm not sweating that..."^^ . . .
