So the trick is to know what to order.\n\nI was lucky to be with a big group (thanks NYC Yelpers) which is kind of unusual and got to try out quite a few of the dishes\n\nExcellent:\n- Wintermelon Soup\n- Fried Chicken Stuffed with Sticky Rice\n- Garlic Pea Sprouts\n- Sizzling Eggplant with Shrimps\n\nA-OK to Meh\n- Steam Oyster with Black Bean (too much black bean sauce)\n- Lobster in Spicy Meat Sauce (overcooked)\n- Steamed Green Bass (overcooked)\n\nAvoid\n- Sweet and Sour Pork (worse than the one I had at food court)\n- Deep Fried Pigeon (dried and bland)\n\nCompare to the other Chinese restaurants I been to, Maple Yip is one of those that practice healthy cooking: easy on the oil and the salt/msg.\n\nMake sure to make a reservation and if not there will be a long long wait for a table. Services can be spotty but if you are a regular, you find the waitresses really friendly!"^^ . "2"^^ .
