The first time I thought I was going to need stitches and they said I'd be fine with dermabond (a much cheaper option) and a splint for two weeks. The second time, I did need stitches. Five of them for one thumb.\n\nBoth visits the staff was amazingly calm, patient, gentle and understanding. On the first visit, one of the nurses came to re-wrap my thumb professionally until I could be seen by the doctor (about a 45 min wait). On the second visit I knew I was getting stitches and that would involve needles (which really turn my stomach). My wait wasn't very long. I drove myself to the UC with a bleeding gash and was fine through everything up until the numbing needle and stitches. A nurse stood in the room on the opposite side of the procedure and just provided small talk to distract me. It was a nice touch.\n\nAfter both incidents, someone called me later in the day to check on me to see how was doing and if I had any outstanding questions. When I went back to get the stitches out, I was able to schedule online and get a text reminder when my appointment time was coming due. I practically walked right in and was seen in a minute or two.\n\nI truly hope I never have to come back here. It's not good when one of the nurses says \"I remember you. Weren't you in here just a week or two ago for the same thing?\"\nHowever, I am confident that I'd get great care if I need it.\nMy only wish is that they'd allow you to make appointments by phone. I couldn't bleed all over my keyboard, let alone type, to schedule something or let them know I was coming in."^^ . "0"^^ . "0"^^ . . .
