However, no rescue should over-promise and under-deliver and certainly should treat someone who cares enough about the homelessness of the animals to adopt, rather than buy from a breeder, with some respect. I want to know exactly what I'm getting and not be told something is going to happen if it isn't. I adopted a dog recently from here. The rescue makes the statement: \"All adopted dogs have been spayed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped\". It wasn't completely true. When I received records, it turns out only rabies had been done previously without Bordetella or distemper, despite the fact the dog was at a pet resort that required those vaccinations prior to the adoption, but the pet resort taking him in without required vaccinations is another story altogether. Further, when I asked for vaccination information and then asked again during a medical issue only within a week of adoption, (it was an owner surrender, so they knew the original family contact information) I was not answered by Melanie until I prodded for a response by asking the volunteer Laurie to please get her to respond to me. When she did finally respond during the medical issue, I asked a simple question about if she knew what he was fed by previous owners or the pet resort he was held in before adoption. I received a rude, sarcastic response from her. I explained that I was at the vets and the vet was asking, so she toned down her attitude a bit, but the first response was very off-putting. Another issue: I was promised the microchip before pick up of the dog but that never happened. Then I was promised it would be done during the time the dog was going to be boarding for an overnight with Melanie (the week after I adopted him). My trip was canceled so I asked Melanie to please set up a time that's convenient for her to just do the microchip and I would meet her anywhere that was convenient for her. No response. Waited a few days and again texted her asking to give me a time that is convenient for her to get him microchipped. Again, no response. So I give up and will get it done elsewhere. It's not the issue of cost because it can be done for a reasonable amount. It's the lack of follow-through by Melanie to do what she says, in writing, that she is going to do. The volunteer Laurie was great but Melanie, who owns the rescue.....not responsive at all and under-delivered what she promised as part of the adoption fee. It's a shame she doesn't respond because she wants help with all the rescues she has, but once you adopt you are on your own without support. Her lack of responsiveness will turn adopters away, which is the exact opposite result I would think she wants."^^ . . "2016-07-10T00:00:00"^^ . "2"^^ . "0"^^ . .
