. "1"^^ . "Let me say, please read the whole review, long yes, but helpful! BEWARE! Do NOT be foolish like me. \nI originally called a diff. service months ago, who sent out the computer guy aka Don. He was 5 hours late & when he got there, he said he didnt work for that company, it was just a service who hired out subs and was just called a couple hours ago. He said he put HIS customers first and had to take care of them. I was a little irritated, but needed the owners computer fixed so Don fixed our computer. He did a great job. He always came out like he promised and did the work hired after that. I always asked him how much it would be and it was always different prices, for sometimes similar work. Seemed odd, but it wasn't too far off in prices. He came out to my office approx. 5 times. \nrecently A gf of mine asked for a recommendation for someone to fix her personal computer and I gave her Dons number. She had him fix her computer and 3 of her friends. He gave me a 10% off discount for the referrals, which seemed fair, since they had tons of work done. \nApprox. 2 months ago I had a problem with my desktop computer at work & I called Don. I also told him on the phone (&later emailed him) that I had an older backup lap top that I wanted to clean up and get a little faster. I saw there were some virus's and wanted it fixed. Also there was a loose hinge and would like that fixed as well. I explained I have a desktop and another laptop, but I wanted 2 use this one for pictures & music, since my husband &I have a TON of them.\nHe said sure no problem. I had given him tons of work, so when he asked to take the laptop home to do at leisure I said that was fine. I told him no rush, that it isn't something I use daily. (Dont ever tell a contractor no rush) Dont took that as well as fix my desktop at work, because I was having some slow problems again (same thing he fixed before) I couldn't figure out why we keep having the same problems. I thought I kept catching a virus on my computer. When he was at my office I also asked him to check out the VP of the companies computer, because it also started acting weird after we just had Don in less than a month before that. I asked Don what is going on, since we just had him in. He reviewed the computer and said the program (mind you, he put on) is making it slow like that. It usually helps and only 10% of computers this happens to. As a computer \"whiz\" you would think you would not put something on the computer, unless you know what is going on. He said he would have to uninstall it and we would lose everything over the last month. OR re-install windows and there would be a $200 charge for this. So it became clear...I found out he did this on all 3 computers I had him look at. He had been asking us to update our windows for months. I told him, they worked just fine and we would like to wait. Now I figured it out, this program he put on ALL of the computers it could be a scam, so he gets another $200 to update Windows. At this point he was taking my laptop. I got nervous but against my better judgement I let him take it. Worst decision I ever made. After 4 weeks, talking back and forth I tell him I need to get this computer back. He had many excuses & even had his wife call me, saying he got in a small collision, which later I found was a lie. First time he called was 2 weeks later after numerous emails and vm's I left him. He said the computer has no virus's and looks good. I thought hmm thats weird. He also said he had some hinges at home and would just transfer them for me. I thought that was nice of him. He called me a week later saying he didnt have any he would have to order them and that would cost $20. I said thats fine. Not bad at all. He called me a week later saying the Y was missing on my keyboard and he asked to replace the whole keyboard. I told him I got a quote before and it was $100 and I didnt want to pay that much. Not a big deal it still worked. He said no way its only $30 to replace. Super easy. Ok great. So $50 I said for that stuff he said yes. HA! When he calls me on the way with my laptop, he says to me total was $300 and 10% discount, (because yet another friend of mine used him).He said the total would be $270. I said Don what are you talking about, you told me $20 for hinges and $30 for keyboard. He said well you have to add labor to that. I said $250 in labor? He said well I also looked at your computer to see if there was any virus's. I said you didnt do anything and you had the computer for over a month. This guy just didnt get it. He said I thought you ASSumed you would have labor. DO you think stuff is just for free? I said No of course not, but when you tell me a price and I tell you ok sounds good, I dont think its gonna be triple that. From my emails & phone conversations I thought you knew I would just use it the way it was. I am seriously still blown away by this guy. He has very poor communication skills. PLEASE DO NOT USE! WILL BE SORRY!"^^ . "11"^^ . "0"^^ . "2011-09-08T00:00:00"^^ . "7"^^ . . .
