I made the trip Sunday and was sorely disappointed in everything except the service, which is the only reason this review is a 2 star and not just 1. \n\nI ordered a burger and asked that it be cooked medium. Easy, right? Well, no. After quite a long wait (about 30 minutes, but it was quite busy, so that wasn't such a big deal to me), I got a well done, over cooked burger that was burned around the edges. My first thought was how in the world could such a horrible burger make it out of the kitchen? The chef should never have let that food leave the kitchen. The server should have been told the kitchen screwed up and then fix it. But no, that didn't happen.\n\nOur server, Alexa, got right on the replacement. A manager came by and I tried to help him understand that the burger I got should never have made it out of the kitchen. Rather than take responsibility, he offered excuses about how busy they were. \n\nWhen Alexa brought my replacement, the burger was almost rare. It was as if the kitchen was making a point...take the burger as we give it to you or you'll get it raw. It was done enough around the edges for me to nibble, but I didn't eat much of the burger. Thankfully, Alexa took the burger off our bill (but I did leave her a generous tip since she was the saving grace in this experience).\n\nI don't know what's going on in the kitchen, but shame on the chef and the kitchen staff for not being able to deliver a burger cooked to medium perfection. I'd had burgers there before and I remembered loving the burger! But my experience yesterday showed a complete failure in both the kitchen AND management. It's as if the customer's experience didn't matter at all to the kitchen and didn't matter much to the manager. \n\nOh, and the omelet my friend ordered...well, I'd have sent that back too. It was dry and looked horrible to me. The omelet was supposed to have had goat cheese on it, but she could only find one little chunk of goat cheese on it. The mushrooms from my mushroom swiss burger helped make her omelet more appealing. This was her first experience at the Hillside Spot. Quite frankly, I was embarrassed at the whole experience....I took a friend to what I thought was a great restaurant, only to have a horrid experience. If y'all ever get your kitchen back in working order, feel free to reach out...maybe I'll try you again. But for now, given all the other recent bad reviews, I'll spend my money elsewhere."^^ .
