Weiss was the best landlord I've ever had (even to this day!).\n\nFirst, let me tell you about what it was like having Weiss as a landlord, and then I'll get to how beautiful his apartments were.\n\nOur moms came down to view a few apartments with us. Once we had finished viewing unit 101 at Near North, we didn't have to think about it for long before we decided to sign the lease right away. He even got me in contact with a current resident to ask her about her experience directly. As soon as we finished signing, Weiss added us all (moms included) as friends on Facebook. This turned out to be a *huge* advantage for us as college students -- Any time we needed Weiss for anything, he was only a Facebook message away (and he always responded within an hour, but usually more like a minute). He took every single little issue we brought up seriously.\n\nHere are some *actual* things that Weiss did for us during my two years at Near North.\n\n- I left my umbrella out to dry in the lobby, but it was taken by persons unknown. I told Weiss about it, and when I got back to my apartment after class, there was a new umbrella hanging on my doorknob (See attached photo).\n\n- When I renewed my lease and returned the next school year, there was a bottle of champagne and Milano cookies (literally my favorite cookies) waiting for me in the fridge.\n\n- He bought a huge spread of gourmet donuts, pastries, and coffee and left it in the lobby for us once a semester. Even left a sign on the door saying \"Did you forget your donut?\"\n\n- I stayed at school for one summer, and a colony of wasps took a liking to one of the beams near the balcony. Weiss knocked on my door carrying a bottle of insecticide, took it to the balcony and just kept spraying until they were gone.\n\n- Once I posted on Facebook that someone had been creeping me out on University Ave. -- He actually followed me around one night. Weiss messaged me, and actually called the police with a physical description of the guy. The police added a few patrol cars, looking for him specifically. Weiss said \"If you feel at all threatened if he comes around again, you can call 911 and they will send someone pronto\".\n\nIf you're not convinced that Weiss is a SUPERB landlord by now, you will never last in the real world. Now that I live on my own, I've had to deal with overpriced apartments with junky appliances, and unresponsive landlords who nickel and dime you for everything and break the law to make money off of you. Believe me when I tell you, this guy is for real!\n\nNow for Near North. This is a brand new, gorgeous apartment building on the north side of campus.\n\nLocation -- Fourth and University is an ideal location for engineering students. Two minute walk to County Market and no longer than ten minutes to the engineering quad. I will say that it's a bit of a hike to the main quad, but nothing terrible. If most of your classes are on the main/south quad you may want to invest in a bike, but walking once or twice a week isn't bad at all if you've got the time.\n\nBuilding -- Super secure. Video surveillance in each unit of the front and back doors for whenever your unit is buzzed. Some units on the 2nd/3rd floor have spacious, modern looking balconies. Enough room for a table and two chairs.\n\nInterior -- I'm always skeptical about photos from the property manager since they tend to be angled so you don't see how small/awkward the space is, but in this case the photos don't even do the space justice -- The units are even more gorgeous than they look in the photos :) Unit 101 is handicapped accessible, and has a fancy granite-like desk area along the narrow hallway leading to the bedrooms. There's shelving built into the walls (a feature I never knew I'd love so much!).\n\nAppliances -- Brand new stainless steel kitchen appliances, everything I ever needed. And W/D in unit was a HUGE plus!"^^ .
