The museums in the city are a little bland but Old Town has the character and history.  I would recommend getting a map and do a self-guided walking tour to see the sites.  There are historical information placards all around the city for you to get the background.  You can really see everything in a day so if you would like to cross Tallinn off of your list I would recommend coming straight here, seeing everything and then moving onto your next city of choice."^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string> .
