"I was just released from this hospital yesterday afternoon following my appendectomy. Waiting time in the ER was a little long, but of course due to severity of others cases it made sense why the wait was longer than most. I will say this right off the bat: EVERY SINGLE nurse, technician, specialist, etc. was SO kind and caring. I really loved everyone I came into contact with. Even the transport people were amazing. I was sent to the ER after my PCP and his PA recommended I get a CT scan to determine if my abdominal pain was in fact my appendix, or one of my kidney stones passing. With that being said, the ER Doctor determined it wasn't my appendix after barely feeling where my pain was and sent me for an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't my gallbladder. Whatever. It really infuriated me that they did not listen to my doctor and his PA and their suggestion for me. After waiting for 2 hours they finally took me back to my ultrasound. I came back to my ER room and waited another 2 hours just to get the results. There was an older gentleman in the room next to me who was coding on a drug overdose, so naturally everyone's attention was on him. After they dealt with that patient, the doctor came in and said \"we checked your gallbladder and it's fine. We did not really get to see the appendix, but we believe there's really nothing there that is causing your pain.\" I lost it. I cried because I felt like he was not listening to me at all. I was not there trying to scam drugs or anything at all and you're going to send me home when you haven't ruled out appendicitis?! After my mother turned into \"mama bear,\" the doctor then ordered a CT scan to rule out appendicitis. Sure enough, 30 minutes after my scan, he came in and told me there was some inflammation in the appendix and they were sending me to surgery that morning. It was around 4am when I FINALLY got an answer from him. I had been in the ER since 6pm that evening before. After wheeling me to my room upstairs and starting me on some IV antibiotics, I was going to surgery right after getting settled into my room. 4:45am they wheeled me down to surgery and was taken care of by the most amazing nurses and doctors. The anesthesiologist was so kind and gentle and told me everything I needed to know. The doctor came in and shook my hand and let me know what he was going to do, and my nurses were so sweet talking me through my nerves. I awoke at around 7:30am and was wheeled upstairs where I recovered from then on. The nurses in the observation unit told my family they had never seen someone jump out of bed so soon after surgery and walk around as much as I did. All in all, I did love my nurses and technicians and even my surgeon. The ONLY one that did not listen to me and left a sour taste in my mouth was the ER doctor. I want to say his name is Jason or Jeff. He has brown hair, parted to the side, and a quiet voice. I do want to thank my ER nurse Jess, my transport Heather, the Ultrasound tech Luis, my CT tech (can't remember his name), of course the amazing nursing staff in surgery (I really remember Jennifer down there because we talked the most ;]) and the sweet nurse that was by my side when I woke up. And a BIG thank you to my recovery nurses Lisa and Yolanda. These nurses and technicians really did their job and made me feel so comfortable being there. If not for them, I would have gone to a different hospital. Heck, I almost did if that ER Doctor didn't give me a CT scan to properly rule out my appendicitis."^^ . . . "2016-01-15T00:00:00"^^ .
