It is located in the most northern part of Scottsdale and while it is in a residential area, you do need to drive up a short bumpy dirt road to reach it. Several people in our tour were late as it is a little hard to find, so allow some extra time to get there. We took the 9 AM tour a week ago and found it very worthwhile. It is not a zoo, but is dedicated to animals that have been rescued and are, for various reasons, unable to live in the wild. It fills a definite need and was very educational for us and I'm glad we went. The volunteer that led the tour was great and took ample time to talk about what we were seeing and also answered our questions. The tour is 2 hours and you are standing and/or walking on dirt paths--some shaded, some in full sun--so wear comfortable shoes and a hat. It is a non-profit organization, and depends on volunteers and donations to support the center. The $25 donation seemed like a lot when I first read it, but after going on the tour and seeing how many animals have to be fed each day, it seemed fair to me. We had some small children on the tour and they got bored after awhile, so I'd recommend this for elementary school-aged and up. It's a great place, doing great work."^^ . "2017-05-21T00:00:00"^^ .
