I speak of him in past tense because he left us in 2015. My husband and I noticed a lump on his throat and sent a picture to our vet tech friend and asked if we needed to go to a vet. She told us yes and right away. We knew Romeo's biological dad who died from liver failure at the young age of 4 so we took him to the same (and worse vet EVER) Carolina Place Animal Hospital on Regent Parkway. At Carolina Place, they took blood (not from the weird HUGE lumps) and ruled out cancer. They put him on prednisone which did help the lumps swell down. When I felt it necessary, I asked if we could lower the dosage and the AWFUL vet said yes. As soon as we did, the lumps swelled right back up. At this point, I knew I needed to try somewhere else. This is where Banfield on South Boulevard comes into play. \n\nI took Romeo in and acted like I had no idea what was wrong with him. The instant the vet saw Romeo, she asked if she could take a blood sample FROM the lump. Of course we said yes. We found out shortly after that our Romeo had Lymphoma and it was at the worse stage. The vet called me and was so kind, answered all my questions, was patient through my tears and explained my next step in the process. Romeo died the day after he turned 3, 1 month after the proper diagnoses. After Romeo's passing I would go into Petsmart for my other ( and now) angel baby and they would ask about him. They remembered us and I will always cherish that. \n\nFast forward some time, I inadvertently inherited my next baby, Roxy and then later Juliette. Every time I went in there, I was treated with respect and so were the dogs. I don't understand the bad rep for Banfield, if you have big dogs, there is no better price then Banfield. If you have a dog that you want to take to the vet because they have a weird looking bite mark or seem sick, you take them in and its included in your wellness plan. Wayyy cheaper then a $45+ office visit at any other vet. \n\nThe only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I'm not crazy about how the vets move around. The techs don't so they get to know you and your dog but the vets do."^^ . "0"^^ . .
