"Now that the bulk of my movie-viewing is done via streaming in the comfort of my own home, I've come to expect a few extra perks from movie theaters to make up for the inflated ticket and snack prices, the physical hassles of actually getting there, and the inconvenience of not being able to put the movie on \"pause\" for a bathroom break, phone/ text conversation or just because it turns out to be lousy and you want to find something else to watch. Some decent trade-offs would be large, comfy, lounger seats, and/or a nicely decorated or cool old retro theater interior, and/or butter stations for re-greasing your overpriced popcorn, and/or the availability of beer or wine. \n\nTower City Cinemas has NONE of the above. Nada. Bupkes. You can barely even find the place in the mall. We went over Christmas weekend, which is supposed to be a busy time of year for moviegoing, and we had to ask directions and then proceed past the food court down a long boring hall (I've seen more exciting corridors in the Dayton, Ohio airport) punctuated with a couple photobooths and urban tweens goofing off, till finally reaching a door leading into the dark ticket lobby with its wee refreshment counter and handful of claw machines and video games. From there we proceeded into the theater which was small, ugly and straight out of 1982. About all I can say for the place is that the staff were pleasant and the theater was clean (then again it was early afternoon and the joint wasn't exactly jumpin' with business). You can also get your Tower City parking ticket validated for a few hours so you don't have to pay extra to park on top of your 8 dollar movie tickets and 5 dollar slushees. \n\nI suppose if you live or work right in downtown, it's nice to have some nearby location to catch a movie, but if you live or work outside the city, there is no reason to exert yourself to come to this cinema when a number of suburban complexes and old skool repertory theaters offer a much better experience."^^ . . .
