I live locally and desperately try to always support Local businesses, but sometimes bike shops will throw off a bad vibe which makes people sometime hesitate to patronize them (speaking of bike shops in general, not FT). So, over the years I've gotten pretty good at ordering stuff online and home wrenching to avoid the attitudes of the \"shop bros\". I can confidently say those attitudes do not exist at Flat Tire!\n\nAs is well known around the area, the owner Kaolin is a bike fit guru. I have a very expensive mountain bike I've had for a year and a half that I have never felt comfortable on, and have experienced cramping issues regularly. The shop I bought it from gave it a half ass attempt, but nothing like what I experienced last night. As I continually altered my position on the bike trying to self-diagnose, I had basically put myself way out of whack. What I thought I knew about how to fit on a mountain bike was completely opposite of much of what I should have been doing. After an hour of Kaolin's meticulous tinkering and EXPLAINING the why behind the what, I can honestly say I feel so much more comfortable on my bike just in the short time I've had to pedal around. \n\nSo this isn't my first mountain bike, this is my 30th year (!) of riding at some level, and I have never had a bike fit done by an expert before. I can honestly say I will never get a bike without doing it again, and I'll be doing it at At Flat Tire with Kaolin! \n\nThank you!!!"^^ . "1"^^ . "0"^^ . . "2017-01-14T00:00:00"^^ . .
