I've chosen to rate my overall experience a 1-star. I'm writing in hopes that my review will help someone who is considering living at The Colonnade. That being said, I would NOT recommend this apartment to a reputable friend. Truth is, you get exactly what you pay for. Honestly, the only thing that made living here tolerable, was just staying in. Once we furnished and decorated and made it our own, our unit was great, because we made it so. It wasn't until you stepped outside, that you're reminded of sub-par residential living and the people who live there.\n\n-All utilities included. It's a given you will not have any control over things such as your air conditioning, internet speed, etc. \n-You will be stuck with a specific CenturyLink bundle of a 1-Mbps internet speed, and basic cable. (Yes I tested the internet speed, for over a year, and always at 1 Mbps). God forbid you want internet access throughout your unit like a normal human being if so, you will need to buy an additional Wi-Fi extender. This may help to connect in your bedroom or bathroom. Also, you will have to purchase your own Wi-Fi router that is compatible with their services.\n\n-Chiller system, (not actual air conditioning) they turn it off way too soon while it's still warm, and turn it on so late in the spring/summer. All while your apartment reaches 85F degrees and higher. Since it runs on the chiller system, the vents are all shared with other residents and you get horrendous smells seeping through your vents like the plague. Including their cheap weed and dirty unventilated apartments. You're left with no other choice than to open your door and windows for a little breeze. \n \nThis is my number one issue with this place. I spent 2 and 1/2 summers here. Each time, they either turned off the 'chiller way too early AND waited until literally May to turn it back on. The most recent time being, when the chiller was turned off one random chilly night in October, I called the office to inquire why it was turned off so early? The office said they had one resident call and complain her apartment got too cold, so of course, they decided to turn off everyone's chiller in the complex. This note was included in the notice they pathetically try to leave on your doors, amongst other illegal last minute notices. And when the chiller was on, most of the time it wasn't, because it either broke down and needed maintenance. I must've put in over 20 requests for our chiller to be serviced because it had stopped working during the hottest days/nights of summer. It was literally never working! What's even more poetic, on our last day living here, while we were cleaning the apartment in preparation to turn in our keys... the chiller turned off and stopped working for old times' sake. We had to clean the whole unit in the heat, wouldn't expect anything less from this place.\n\n-Irresponsible dog owners, my 2nd biggest issue with this place. There is some crazy bandwagon effect going on here where too many people are not picking up after their dogs! Cement and walkways smell like urine, and there is shit everywhere. Even near or at the designated potty stations. One resident on the 1st floor, who I'm sure has been there for many years, rents his unit right in front of a designated dog station. He, however, has his dog unleashed at all times and allows him to come and go as he pleases and never picks up after his dog. Having your dog unleashed is not safe for other residents' dogs. This should help paint a picture of the type of people who live here. \n\n-The drunken middle-aged group of people living off of disability, bringing down property value and residential interest. Specifically in the 1926/North building. There is a very unpleasant group who like to infest the pool area, every day until early hours of the morning. The volume of your drunken voices/laughter at 4 AM were not appreciated. \n\n-This is a chain-smoke all the hell you want environment. When I would walk toward the laundry room in my complex, I always pass by an older man who smokes cigarettes/pot inside his apartment with the door wide open (hosts Christmas parties outside the walkway blocking your path). And most recently, right before I left, there seems to be a younger black couple who lives a few doors near the laundry room. They like to sit outside their unit, blocking your way, and they will literally light up and smoke their weed out in the open. They both always seem to be outside either smoking, eating or on their phones. Blocking everyone's path and having to walk through their cloud of weed. (See attached photos for full review)"^^ . . .
