The neighborhood is nice and it was pleasant to be out and about in the area, with a number of nice restaurants. Valet parking was included, so that was also great. Our package also included the buffet breakfast which was very good - made to order waffles and omelettes, tons of bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit. Late night food in the restaurant/bar was good enough. Every single staff person we met was super kind and friendly and helpful. Now for the not so good. This is clearly an older hotel that needs some updating, upgrading, and renovations. Our bathroom was run-down (and without towels), as were several other obvious areas of the hotel. I really wish the owners would invest some $$ in doing this because the location and area are absolutely primo. The pool is run down (but apparently only 1 of 2 hotels in downtown that has an indoor pool). The hot tub/whirlpool was not working. The air conditioner in the hotel was out! Sooooo hot!!! The cleaning staff do an ok job, but clearly nothing above and beyond. We had 1 towel and 1 washcloth, and the pool had no towels. They kindly brought more, but did not seem at all surprised that we didn't have any. Not sure if they have a towel shortage?! And the wifii didn't work. For all of this, I should give a lower rating - but the valet, the buffet breakfast, the staff kindness, and really the super close proximity to the Playhouse Square have inflated my rating!"^^ . .
