Ultimately I wanted an ombre, and my roots re-done. Apparently there was a misunderstanding somewhere with what I wanted. They did my roots and my hair looked purple to me. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word purple because the conversation that happened after that was ridiculous. What should have been a simple fix turned into Daniel bantering with me for 20 minutes about my hair. He told me he wasn't going to do anything because I saw my hair as purple so therefore it will always be purple to me no matter what he does. He didn't understand what I asking and failed at attempting to even listen. The color plain and simple was unnatural, unflattering, didn't match the rest of my hair at all and I was very unhappy with it after spending $80+ dollars at his salon. All I wanted was some toner or other color added over to it to subdue the red (which I would have been happy to pay for.)\n\nHe explained people come in all the time trying to get free stuff; insinuating that that's what I was trying to do. After his attempt of psychoanalyzing me where he implied that I had a skewed perception of myself (further implying that's why I didn't like my hair-not because of an unflattering dye job) and mentioning something about how we all suffer from our own body dysmorphia- I was insulted. He then told me he wasn't comfortable doing my hair because my perception was wrong.\n\n The persona in which Daniel's identifies himself with appears to be one filled with confidence (something that everyone wants in a stylist) however today all I saw was arrogance and immaturity and the inability to approach a situation like a respectable adult. I am a passive, kind person and I work in customer service and rarely do I complain, his response to that was \"really because you've been arguing with me for 20 minutes\" it was more like sitting through 20 minutes of Daniel trying to convince me my hair was right and \"beautiful\" and he didn't do anything wrong because he already had it in his head that I was just another difficult customer trying to get free products/services. \n\n That's what was most insulting to me because I would have been happy to pay and really liked Daniel and Laura but never in my life did I think I would be subjected to manipulative bantering like that by a hairstylist. Thankfully Aveda corrected it for me at Ibi David salon in Westlake. They were able to use blue/green tones to neutralize the color and made it look great and brown ( to match the rest of my hair) not a purple/red. Daniel had said the only way to fix it was by color stripping my hair. They agreed it was not a flattering color for me and was in fact a bad decision to have a completely different color from the rest of my hair applied to the roots, especially if my ultimate goal was an ombre because red is rarely used for ombres. 15 years of experience doesn't make you untouchable especially if you're trying to establish your own business. I was thoroughly insulted, and embarrassed.\n\nTL;DR- I was unhappy with hair; he refused to fix (even for money)."^^ . "1"^^ . . . "1"^^ .
