I was deterred from going to Sophie's based on some of the reviews I read online. I was with my mother and she wanted to take a look at bridesmaid dresses so given the proximity of Sophie's to my house, we stopped by to check them out. Jennifer, the owner, not only let us take a look but she started questioning me about whether I had found my dress yet. She allowed me (without an appointment on a Saturday and 45 mins before closing) to poke around and put me in a dress that ended up being the one I chose! \n\nIf you are looking to be the ONLY bride in a salon this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a glamourous appointment this is also not the place. However, because they are not on commission at this store (or so I was told), I found their approach pretty laid back which suited me just fine. I do not like to be \"sold\" to or lied to. I like fashion and I know what looks best on me. It was clear in some of my other appointments that making the sale was more imporatnt than making me happy.\n\nIt's no doubt a busy store with a lot going on but Jennifer especially is knowledgeable and has a great memory. I appreciated that she remembered me each time I stopped by! \n\nI have ordered my dress WELL in advance of my wedding so I have built in a good buffer so I need not be stressed. Let's hope the dress comes in as expected and alterations go ok. Quite frankly if you are a laid back bride (or plus sized - they have a good selection and NO judgement here) I say give it a shot. I almost avoided it due to Yelp reviews and I never would have found MY dress!"^^ . . "0"^^ . "1"^^ .
