My most recent trip allowed me to explore various places beyond the traditional Vegas fanfare. After this visit to Red Rock Canyon (as well as Valley of Fire State Park), I am truly astounded that there is so much beauty and scenery surrounding Las Vegas.\n\nTIP: Entry fee $7.00 per vehicle.\n\nNOTE: Make sure to stop at the Visitor's Center for additional info about the Red Rock Canyon (formation and surrounding areas), as well as spectacular views of the canyon itself. Visitor Center hours are 800am to 430pm.\n\nDRIVE: The drive around the canyon is 13 mile drive around the rim of the canyon allowing visitors to take in/view the more scenic points of Red Rock. Visitors are provided a comprehensive guide detailing info about the stops along the scenic drive, points of interest, various hiking trails, as well as dirt roads off the beaten path so to speak.\n\nBefore we embarked on the drive, we stopped to check out the Visitor's Center and were pleasantly surprised as its a spacious building with indoor and outdoor areas. The outdoor area contains various exhibits providing information about the area, sitting areas, as well as spectacular photo opportunities of the canyon. We didn't linger too long as we arrived at nearly 3pm which gave us slightly over one hour for the scenic drive. \n\nSince our time was limited, we made sure to stop at the major viewpoints along the drive. If time was on our side, I would have loved to explored the various hiking trails in Red Rock. Well, let's just say that the road throughout the canyon is aptly named as it is quite scenic indeed. Favorite stops along the drive included those at Sandstone Quarry, High Point Overlook, and Red Rock Wash Overlook. The largest parking area we discovered on the drive is at High Point Overlook, which proved to be popular with other visitors, overlooks the canyon at its highest point. From this vantage point, visitors can truly appreciate the vastness and splendor of Red Rock. It was just truly breathtaking.\n\nside NOTE: Maximum speed on scenic drive is 35mph and may be slower in some sections. Scenic drive is also one way only.\n\nBOTTOM LINE: A very scenic time and drive in Red Rock Canyon. If I have an opportunity in the future, I'd love to go hiking in this area as well."^^ . "4"^^ .
