The Beaches location has been in my Yelp bookmarks for quite a while, but as a far-west-ender, I've never made it out that way. \n\nThe new location is on the corner of Clendenan Ave and Annette St, and it's hard to miss. With the (slightly creepy) deer and a doghouse outside, it stands out. Walking in, I was struck by how quaint it was, because that's really the only word that can describe it. As I understand it, the previous owner of the location had a sandwich shop and was very well known, so The Pie Shack paid him homage by retaining many of the existing pieces. There's also a corner dedicated to him with candy available for a quarter. \n\nBut I wasn't here for candy. I was here for one thing, and one thing only: pie. I'm someone who has a hard time making decisions - especially such a difficult one as which type of pie to buy. So I chose three. (In my defense, I wasn't the only one to eat them). The selections were Apple Cinnamon, Bumbleberry, and Strawberry Rhubarb. One slice is a quarter of a pie and costs $6, which doesn't seem overly expensive to me. I took them home since the store was rather warm inside, and because despite what this review may make you believe, I'm not capable of consuming three quarters of a pie in one sitting. (As I write this I question the truth in that statement...but that's a challenge for another day).\n\nI lightly warmed the slices before I ate them, and they were eaten sans ice cream. They didn't need it. The clear favourite was the bumbleberry, but the apple and strawberry rhubarb definitely held it's own. The crust is delicious and flaky, and I'm not usually a fan of pie crust. The fruit filling was generous, fresh, and delicious. Even after finishing all of it (with help!), I craved more. I will almost certainly return and I wish them the best of luck in their new location!"^^ .
