She told me all about their BBB rating and how it's a family owned company and, most importantly, NOT A BROKER. She must have repeated that about 5 or 6 times....they drive their own truck, I would definitely have a New Planet truck and driver. Because I was moving from Michigan to California and did not have an apartment yet, they would store my stuff in their warehouse in LAS VEGAS (very important fact). Well, the movers that showed up were about 2 hours late and it took both of them 6 HOURS to pack up my 1 bedroom, even though I was promised it would take 2. I actually missed most of my own going away party because I figured it would take them longer than 2 hours, but 4 more hours than promised? That was a bit ridiculous. Also, the truck that showed up....NOT NEW PLANET. They had contracted me out BEST PRICE MOVING out of Chicago....a company I had read/heard numerous terrible reviews on and was absolutely adamant about not using because of them. When I called New Planet to ask about this, they told me taht Best Price is their \"sister company\" on the other half of the country....something I find very hard to believe since the guys moving my stuff had never even heard of New Planet or had any idea what I was talking about. Also, all of the paperwork I had to sign was Best Price Moving, NOT New Planet.\nFast forward to California....finally found an apartment and called them immediately to set up the delivery. I called them on February 11. The guy I talked to and I very specifically discussed a February 18 or 19 deliveyr. VERY SPECIFICALLY. He promised I would get a call on February 17 to let me know more directly what day and about what time they would deliver. Well, of course I never heard from anyone. I called a few times and was told they would have to call me back. Of course no one did. So I called back on February 18....they tried to say they would call me back but I insisted on waiting on thephone since I knew they would never call me back. Then an EXTREMELY rude guy (claimed to be the owner - who knows what's true at this point) starts yelling at me on the phone telling me that someone woman named Becky (or something like that) had called me yesterday and why was I calling them again - this had already been solved. I can say with 150% certainty that absolutely no one called - he flat out told me he thought I was just lying. Why would I make this up? I called to find out when my delivery was going to happen - if I already knew, I wouldn't need to call. So, he calms down a little bit and tells me that my belongings are scheduled to be delivered on February 23!! I was furious! So, when I asked him why I had I been told after a lengthy conversation over a WEEK ago that my delivery would be February 18 or 19, he first tried to tell me that I was lying. Then he said he'd get the guy on the phone who I said told me taht and ask him what he said (what good that did at this point was beyond me - it's not like I believed a single thing out of any of their mouths anyway). Finally, I gave up the argument and settled with the fact that I was sleeping on the floor for several more days. One thing I asked him at that point, though, was why it was taking almost 2 weeks for them to move a 1 bedroom apartment that was supposed to be in their warehouse from Las Vegas to San Francisco, since I was promised that my stuff would be stored in Las Vegas. He got a little flustered and pretty much sidestepped the question.\nOnce moving day arrived, I had great initial contact with the guy driving the truck - I think he called me about 10 times. It was a bit much, but with the lack of communication I had received previously, I figured I should count my blessings! So, he shows up and, lo and behold, is an employee of Best Price Moving, NOT New Planet. He has also never heard of New Planet. He and one other guy took about 4 hours to unpack everything. A few things were broken/damaged - 2 drawers on 2 different pieces of furniture, my desk (had to be taken apart in 2 peices - they broke most of the posts that put it back together). The guys who had packed everything had taped directly onto my couch and onto my wood entertainement unit. The tape on the entertainment unit pealed a bit and the front is now damaged. The thing that pissed me off the MOST, though, was taht one of them stole my iPod! I discovered it about 2 minutes after the truck was left when I went to turn it back on. I was so pissed that I immediately called the drivers cell phone - they of course denied it. I then called New Planet who told me I had to file a police report adn that they couldn't do anything about it. I filed a police report which, of course, solved nothing.\nOverall, it was a ridiculous hassle and I have never been yelled at by a vendor before....I would never use them again!"^^ . . . "1"^^ .
