Cigarette smoke is something that both of us will cross the street to avoid, so we had some reservations about the place right off the bat when we had to walk through the haze of smoke from the smoker's patio to get to the front door. Because the patio is so close to the front door, every time someone opens it when you're sitting at the bar you get to enjoy all of that smoke again. There was also a door in the back of the bar area and a few other people kept going out there to smoke as well. That door was just open so it smelled like an ash tray pretty much the entire time we were there.\n\nBeer selection isn't great. It's a dive bar, so you're not going for the ambiance, either. So maybe it's one of those cool local bars that just has its own thing going on and that's why anyone would bother going here? I'm not sure. Maybe. It certainly didn't give that vibe the night we were there. There is this episode of the Simpson's in which Homer decides to give up drinking for a month. At the end of the month he triumphantly returns to Moe's to celebrate his abstinence, and as he looks around with sober eyes he realizes that everyone sitting around the bar is semi-drunk and depressed, and the whole place is just shabby and depressing. It is entirely possible that Sidelines was the template for this episode. They do have really great TVs, though."^^ .
