I've been dying to visit good food on montford for years and I'm ashamed to say it took me so long to go! When we arrived the place was buzzing and every table in the place was full. It's a very small restaurant with about 20 tables in it, most of them are 2 tops. My fianc\u00E9 and I grabbed a glass of wine at the bar and quickly got sat at the \"back bar\" which is bar sitting right in front of a cook, Chris. I am so glad we were sat here because Chris made our experience amazing. You could tell this man has a passion for culinary and it was fun to watch him work. \n\nWe were explained that everything on the menu is tapas style. Most people order 2-3 items per person. We started off with the steam bun and carpaccio. I was very prepared for small portions but the one thing I am taking off half a star for is the steam bun. It's literally one bun. I think this should be 3 smaller buns which would make it more share friendly, since that's what you are going for with the tapas style. Now don't get me wrong the flavors of the steam bun were amazing! The carpaccio was so lovely because it had a southern twist to it with the pimento cheese and fried pickles. Again I'll note that we got a smaller portion on this then many photos I saw online. I get they are going small but don't skimp! \n\nNext we ordered Chris' favorite the poached egg and our waitress' favorite the Italian sausage pasta. The egg was beautiful, larger than expected and very deep, rich flavor. The pasta was also larger in size and my fianc\u00E9 even commented that it would have been enough for an entree if he ate it solo. The pasta sauce was so bright and the sausage was filled with sage! \n\nOur server was able to suggest great wines to pair throughout the evening! The wine list does not match what is ok the website. I think that should be updated because I had selected my choice before going and that no longer carried it. \n\nAfter dinner Chris heard me speak of my nut allergy and he order us a chocolate dessert that was nut free! \n\nOverall this place is amazing!! I would suggest to go during the week and not on weekends because the wait can be awfully long due to the size of the restaurant and people tend to take longer when eating tapas. They also update their menu according to what they can locally source and what's in season so each time you go you can received a completely different experience! \n\nMy vote is this is one of my favorite in Charlotte, right along with Roosters! This is a MUST VISIT!!!"^^ . "0"^^ .
