It started in the maintenance closet. As per the fire marshal report. My brother-in-law a disabled Vietnam veteran lived on the 2nd floor far away from the fire. Well it took us nearly a month to remove his belongings. He has a live in caregiver because he is not able to live on his own anymore due to early dementia. When people started moving out they were only giving them 24 hours to get their things out until the complex's attorney let then know they couldn't do that. When they moved in the office was suppose to do a walk threw and them give them the lease and the rental insurance paper. After the fire I found out they never received it. The renters insurance states that it only covers the apartment if the tenant damages the unit and to insure your things you would have to get your own renters insurance. We didn't know that until I got the paperwork from the office after the fire. So over a hundred dollars in grocery's gone because of the frig not working because of no electric. Then you find out that you can't collect because you didn't have a renters insurance plan for yourself. They made everyone affected sign papers of their rules so they could remove their belongings. Because the caregiver wasn't on the lease I had to go and take care of the paper work to get the apartment emptied. There was no electric meaning no elevator and no lights in the hallways. they allowed you in during the day and made you get out around 5 or 6 pm while it was still daylight enough to get things out. Because of the themps outside being in the high 90,s low 100,s it was like working in a blast furnace. You couldn't open the windows because it was hot blistering heat coming into the unit. There was an elderly woman moving out without help. The Security Guards were told not to help anyone. The elderly woman threw her mantras and box spring off her patio porch and not one of the guards would help her load it for her. I pray that their parents and grand parents don't go through what some of these persons had to go through to get out of this dump. They never removed the refrigerators out until the same week we finished emptying my brother-in-laws apartment. The stench was so bad it has made the helpers ill that helped the caregiver remove things from the apartment. My caregiver said they didn't repair things when it needed repairs. there was a bullet hole in one of the windows because the neighborhood is so bad with stabbings and shootings almost everyday. I would not recommend moving into this place. When you go to rent they show you a model apartment like the one your going to rent which is a beautiful unit. You then sign your lease agreement and they show you your apartment. It is trashed, nothing like the one they showed you by the office. There are roaches, and bedbugs throughout the buildings. When I was reading other post that's when I saw that some tenants had bedbugs. People walk their dogs and there's doggy poop all around the grounds. The hallways are filthy and there was no washer and dryer on the second floor wash room. They took them out and never replaced them. I am so glad to get my brother-in-law out of that dump along with his caregiver. Even though I have his (POA) & (DPOA) and told them they needed to work with the caregiver, they wouldn't do it. A new management team took over and totally disrespected my caregiver like she wasn't even a person. My next step is to get the caregiver signed onto being a POA and a DPOA along with me and my husband. I am sure we were not the only ones abused by this management company. I would not recommend this place to live. They rent to persons who cannot rent in other places. If my brother-in-law didn't need to rent their because they decided to move from the last apartment due to their lease was up and they thought this was a nice place. I would not put your elderly mother or father in this place you surely wouldn't want to live here. The entry doors didn't have locks on them anymore and there was all kinds of persons lingering in the halls doing what ever all the time. Why someone even saw a used rubber laying in a hall passageway. Stay safe and do not live in the switch and bate apartment complex."^^ .
