Institutions like the Met are as prestigious as they not only because of their collections, but because of the way they present their collections. It can't just all be thrown into a room. There has to be a coherent story, articulated via exhibits and thoughtful placement of each and every museum piece. Therein lies the main fault of the ROM (in my opinion). It appears that the curators brought out their entire collections and spread them out in different cabinets and cases throughout the museum, and while it may not be willy-nilly, it surely is distracting. The Met excels in this aspect: they only take out a small portion of their collections but try to present it in an attention-grabbing way. That way you don't zone out as you're strolling through the exhibit. Or at least that's what happened to me at the ROM. It's just too much information at once and I find it a bit overwhelming."^^ . .
