. "After reading all the negative reviews of UMC I feel sorry for those of you who live in Vegas. In November of 2014 I was visiting Vegas for a convention. Unfortunately I developed a kidney stone and was bleeding internally and in severe pain. I was first told to go to their Urgent Care facility. When I arrived I told the staff I had a kidney stone lodged and asked for help. I was told to have a seat and after waiting for a long time to see the Dr. (while in extreme pain) he tells me that they don't have an XRAY or ultrasound machine so they couldn't help me. They suggested I go to the hospital. I paid the Urgent care place and went to the hospital. Months later I get a call from a collections company who said I didn't pay the bill at the Urgent care. I gave them my insurance info but they never billed my insurance company. Billed me $600 to leave me in the lobby in extreme pain only to tell me they can't help me. I'm still fighting with them about this. If you know what's good for you don't go to one of their Urgent Care facilities. They were rude, didn't care if I lived or died just wanted me to go away.\n\nSo I go to UMC still in extreme pain and bleeding. The nurse and ER Dr. did see me promptly. If I could give them 3 or 4 stars I would. They took an xray and confirmed I had a kidney stone lodged causing internal bleeding and extreme pain. They put in an I/V with morphine which at least dulled the pain. I was released and told to go a 24 hour pharmacy for pain killers and they said there was nothing else they could do and I should go see my own Dr. Of course my Dr. was hundreds of miles away. The story gets better. I gave UMC my insurance info before I left the E/R. Weeks later I started receiving calls and letters treating me like I'm a flake for not paying the $6000 they charged me to give me a pain killer. I then call my insurance company to chew them out and they tell me that UMC never billed them. So I call UMC and report this. I then learned that they sent out bills from 4 different places in the hospital. During this time I made multiple calls to UMC's billing office and after waiting on hold for up to an hour I get a message that no one is there and I should leave a message. Of course they never call back. The billing problems with these people are never ending. Their staff in billing is rude. I tried to call and complain but they gave me bogus info so I couldn't report the problems I had and of course they don't return calls. My insurance company paid them but we definitely overpaid with their ridiculous charges. \n\nWhat a horrible, unprofessional place to deal with. Thank god I live in Orange County where we have hospitals that treat you like a human. UMC was filthy as reported by others. Unfortunately I learned the hard way the UMC is a county hospital. I feel sorry for those of you who live in Vegas and have to accept the pathetic level of service from this place."^^ . "0"^^ . "0"^^ . . "2015-04-07T00:00:00"^^ . "1"^^ . . "0"^^ .
