"tl;dr, don't be fooled by the atmosphere

Atmosphere: although this restaurant came at the recommendation of my friends, I was taken aback by the décor (I might describe it as out-dated and confused). You'll find a fireplace with lounge chairs in one corner with dining tables in the other; the menu is spread across the counter, back wall and stand-alone posters (with intermittent pictures), and left me slightly confused.

Staff and service: Linda (assumed owner/upper-management) is the saving grace of this restaurant - she clarified menu items/provided suggestions and even through in a complimentary scone as it was my first time visiting the city/restaurant. Linda made me feel at home in a city that was not my own and was the reason I did (and will continue to on future travel) return. Service was fast.

Food and drink: The Extreme Bean seems to pride themselves on organic (and local?) foods. While the menu is confusing and a combination of Asian/North American cuisines, I wouldn't shy away - I would highly recommend the Matcha Green Tea Latté (made with true Matcha) and the Extreme Organic Salad +/- chicken (see attached picture). In-house chicken is prepared in several flavours: I would recommend the garlic and buffalo variants.

Overall impression: though odd (and maybe paying homage to its name), I would recommend The Extreme Bean for any of your dietary needs. Don't forget to order the Matcha Green Tea Latté (half-sweet is best!)."^^ . .
