"0"^^ . "My husband and I are shopping for a new home and ended up in an Ashton Woods community recently. We loved the models and the prices were great so we decided to sit down with a sales counselor to go over options, etc. in hopes of writing a contract. The salesperson was okay..but the overall situation was just very awkward. First we picked a floorplan and then it was time to pick a location. They charge a premium for every single lot even if it's not a great lot and not in a great location. They had one lot in particular that would've worked perfectly for us but there was no price on the lot. We were told we could make an offer but were given no parameters or a starting point. We made an offer - denied. We made another offer - denied. No counteroffer..no explanation. Just..no. The whole thing seemed silly. Just tell us the actual price and we'll decide if we want to pay it or not...why do we have to waste both of our time guessing numbers that are clearly too low?! That is just one example of the awkward business practices we encountered during our visit. Aside from that, they upcharge for basically everything (hence the low starting point) but can't tell you what exactly you're paying for (ex. Me: What does your standard carpet look like so I can determine how much I need to upgrade it? Salesperson: I don't know. No one picks it.) Long story short..it didn't work out. Overall, nice houses...poor customer service."^^ . "1"^^ . . . . "2017-05-10T00:00:00"^^ . "8"^^ . "2"^^ .
