The older gentleman at the counter asked what our budget was and my mother told him $500. He kept my car for an hour then called to tell me the spark plugs and MAP processor needed to be replaced, and the total cost was $495. I called BS. I let him know my engine light would shut off tomorrow because I just changed the oil (and it did). Needless to say, I did not allow them to service my car. I later found out the total in parts for spark plugs and MAP processor is $115. Therefore, I would have paid $385 in labor. \n\nI now use a family owned mechanic shop that would never dare charge that amount in labor. Also, they cleaned my MAP processor so it is like new and showed me that the spark plugs do not need to be replaced.\n\nIn response to the comment: It is not a coincidence that the man at the desk asked our budget, then proceeded to state the repairs are the exact cost of the budget... \n\nThe car was looked at my FOUR mechanics after who can all contest to the truth of what the car needed done. Maybe the one mechanic who claimed to clean the MAP censor lied. I would not be surprised, he also put the wrong alternator in the car. \n\nIt is terribly difficult to find a conscious, friendly mechanic shop in this city. In the end, I should have taken the car to Kia..."^^ .
