Although Montreal offers several options to choose from (some Halal which mean no liquor is served), we hedged our bets on Damas and were very pleased. \n\nLocated a short distance from Mount Royal on Avenue du Parc, Damas is a small restaurant which, from the outside, looks like any run-of-the-mill eatery. Upon stepping inside, however, expect to be embraced by authentic regional decor and atmosphere to accompany your meal. \n\nA nice selection of olives are brought to the table upon seating, and we were presented with a solid beer and wine list. Menu, itself, isn't too diverse, the usual cold/hot appetizers are to be expected whether it be hummus, kibbie, or other local fare. We ordered the hummus (accompanied by warm pita bread) and a flaky pastry stuffed with cheese - both of which were very good. For our meals we ordered one chicken kabob plate and a lamb kebab plate. Portions were plentiful, and the accompanying sides were flavorful. If asked to pick between the two meals which one was my favorite, I would likely say the chicken as the lamb was just a touch overly-seasoned for my own liking. Still, for a lamb kebab, it was pretty-darn good. \n\nService = Exceptional. On a night when the restaurant was filled to (if not beyond) capacity, any and all our needs were attended to without delay or having to ask.\n\nReservations are an ABSOLUTE must. We had nice window seat from where we could watch the locals pass by, and quickly lost count of how many people walked in after looking at the menu, only to be turned away due to EVERY single table taken. Yes, it is that good and certainly that popular. \n\nAs for pricing, I would say that out of the restaurants we ate at during our Montreal trip, Damas definitely is toward the higher price-point; however, you certainly will get what you pay for, and walk away very satisfied."^^ .
