I drive by this place on my way to work everyday. I watched in awe as they turned barren desert wasteland littered with homeless encampments and literal garbage into a farm, nursery and ??? I don't know what else. I watched amazing things happen on This property. I was intrigued but never had time to stop. One day last month, my way to work my boss called and said don't come in they had a power outage. I just happened to be driving by Agave farms as she called to break the horrible news to me. I didn't want to drive back to chandler after battling rush hour for an hour so I pulled into Agave Farms. \nAnd wow.... first off, I pull in and I don't know where to park, exactly. There's two parking lots but cars were parked in a field? I start to pull in and park with the rest of the vehicles and I'm stopped abruptly by a very angry looking man smoking. He's motioning for me to park in the gravel lot. Okay... \nI get out and the guy is gone? I assumed he worked there? I wanted to ask him so questions about the place. So I start walking towards where the roses use to be. I noticed the roses were dying or disappearing the last few months. I assumed they moved them. As I'm walking I notice the dead farm with a few scattered rotting pumpkins. What happened to their farm? And fresh produce? I saw none of that here. One of the reviews, which now after rereading it sounded like it was written by an employee, mentioned produce and selling at the farmers market and to restaurants. What are they selling? It's all dead and rot.\nI move on and see some fancy metalwork made from rebar. Neat. I see a green scum filled fountain- gross- does anyone work here? The trash can was overflowing with trash and flies everywhere. Nasty. Someone must work here? Next I notice a corral of dead plants. Do they think the plants will run away? Why are they corralled? I was expecting livestock to be living there. Instead just dead plants. Weird.\nSo anyways moving along. There's another parking lot of nothing and an info booth with no info. Broken down ATV on display? That's odd too. Planters are in existence but with no plants in it. Everything looked dead and sorely neglected. I make my way over to some tables with plants for landscapes and gardens. They look so bad. I'm a seasoned gardener who grew up in Missouri and have gardened in Phoenix for more than half my adult life. I have only seen plants look like this mess at Lowe's in the clearance section. Their prices weren't bad, if their plants weren't just barely hanging on for dead life. What a travesty. Worst of all was the rose area. This was always a joy for me to drive by everyday last year. The roses were usually in full bloom this time last year. What was left of them looked like someone burned them with fertilizer and then forgot to water them. Such a shame. They had the signs up where the roses use to be. Now they looked like gravestones. What an amazing variety they once had. I would have bought a yellow rose for my mom. She loves roses. But there were none to be had. Or at least I don't think so- no one seems to work here. I proceed on with my journey and find another broken down ATV or tractor, some unplanted garden beds, rotted hay stacks and an odd spiral thing. What is this place? I felt like I was in a nightmare seen. It was like an abandoned theme park where the bad guy chases you in a scooby do episode. But instead of a theme park, it's the weird farm without a farm and a \"sort of\" creepy abandoned nursery. The energy in this place just felt \"off.\" I couldn't quite put my finger on it exactly until later on. I suppose it is the large amount dead stuff and neglect. I wander through the \"succulents\" where I am slightly more impressed with the health of these plants. It's pretty hard to kill a cactus in the desert, right? The selection is blah. Lots and lots of the same thing. It looks like some of the stuff they dug up from the desert and put in a pot. Wow. Creative. It looks like they are targeting a different demographic than the casual gardener/homeowner. This place looks like where the landscaper buys his stuff to appease the HOA's. Snooze. Where's the edible plants, herbs, pretty flowers?!? Disappointing."^^ . "0"^^ . . . .
