He evaluated the situation and made recommendations about what was the best thing to do for me, rather than trying to sell me anything. It turned out that with the amount of damage to the washer, though repair was possible, the most reasonable option was replacement. This was the option that didn't make Joe any money, but was the one he recommended regardless. He also discussed different replacement model options with me and the various places where they are sold. And, he gave advice on getting the old unit removed, if we needed to do so.
