The flamingos, the Koi and the ducks swimming in the pond, are all really fun to watch and enjoy. The casino is pretty nice, laid out well so you can find your way around pretty easily, and has all the usual table and slot games. Now for the hotel part...\n\nOur arrival at 11:30 pm was absolute chaos. I had checked in online and had nifty little QR codes to scan in the check-in kiosks. I felt pretty smug about avoiding the line that was 50+ people deep waiting for two desk clerks (out of 15 available posts). However, the kiosks did not work. I got error codes telling me I had to see a reservation desk clerk to check in. Into the line we went. This was a slow-moving line of exhausted, frustrated, and downright angry people. We waited for 45 minutes to check in and then finally went to find our rooms. \n\nI had reserved \"Fab\" rooms, not realizing these are the lowest tier of room they offer. The size was fine, we did not get the view of the High Roller I had reserved, but I was too tired to care. The next day I *wished I had cared more: the music from the age 21+ \"GO\" pool was relentless, a deep thumping bass all day and well into the night that we heard 19 floors up. The room seemed clean, although really beat up and old. The bathroom sink was cracked into about 8 pieces, the tub was chipped, the wallpaper peeling, and the furniture looked like someone went after it with a hammer. There was a shockingly uncomfortable \"couch\" sort of thing, hard, flat, vinyl, with a deep seat and two stiff cylinder pillows. During the night I stepped in a wet spot on the carpet. Daytime inspection revealed housekeeping had scrubbed *something out of the carpet. My daughter and I had bets on blood or vomit. The TV worked and the best part was I was able to access the HDMI port and watch movies from my iPad (lots of hotels have a box covering the ports so you are forced to watch TV).\n\nThe \"amenities\" in these rooms are minimal: a 1-oz tube of body lotion and 1-oz of shampoo-conditioner combo. Room service ends mid-afternoon. Wi-fi costs $16/day for two devices. We didn't ask staff for anything, so I have no idea if they are responsive or not. There were a dozen conventions in town (at the end of July!) and every hotel was packed. \n\nBe prepared to take a hike through the Habitat to find the two pools, and do not do it barefoot in the summer! The main \"family\" pool was pretty nice and the water very refreshing, even at mid-afternoon in 108 degree heat. Cool water is constantly flowing into the pool. The GO pool next door requires ID but the really loud music made it hard to talk even in the family pool. The drinks are EXPENSIVE ($17 for a regular gin & tonic). The Buffet was okay. We had brunch there and they had the typical array of breakfast foods along with lunch items like fried chicken and several stir-fry dishes. The staff were attentive and very sweet, keeping our waters filled and promptly clearing dishes. \n\nI stayed here 10 years ago and everything was so much nicer then, I was disappointed this trip. The Flamingo is in desperate need of an overhaul and until that happens, I won't be back."^^ . . . "0"^^ . "0"^^ .
