Having consumed many a bagel in NYC, I'd never understood the hype about \"Montreal style bagels\" until this visit. In fact I used to joke that one can easily find better bagels in Long Island. Given this prejudice, I was genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised by how much I enjoyed my first taste of O'bagels' bagels! Basically, my first taste resulted in the purchase of several dozen bagels that I lugged back to Toronto as souvenirs. \n\nSeveral factors led to this enjoyable experience. First of all, I always appreciate when I can see how something I eat is prepared. In this case, the oven and baker are almost within touching distance of the customer. Second, the bagels are fresh and well textured. Third, there is a good amount of flavours to choose from. Last, but not least, the staff are quite pleasant and friendly and the shop is super clean. \n\nFrom the flavours I tried, I can highly recommend the poppy seed, pumpkin cinnamon poppy seed (likely seasonal), and the coconut which was tasted more like a dense cake than a bagel, but was delicious nonetheless. The typical sesame bagel tasted alright, but I have had better in NY. I usually choose plain or poppyseed over sesame anyways. \n\nOverall, I've visited enough bageleries to know a good one when I see one. O'bagels seems to be the real deal."^^ . . .
