"2016-07-19T00:00:00"^^ . "6"^^ . "After all of the years of practicing Yoga I have never felt so uncomfortable in a class to the point I felt any desire to walk out. During last week's Wednesday 5:30pm class, we witnessed behavior by a Yoga teacher that is against everything that Yoga stands for. Barely 20 minutes into the class, another student decided they wanted to leave. The instructor stopped class to question her as to her intentions for leaving. He continued to berate the student in front of everyone on why you \"never leave a Yoga class\" and when you come to class you set the intention to always stay. He continued on in an extremely demeaning manner while the rest of the class watched, meanwhile class had come to a halt. It was so inappropriately handled from a professionalism and conduct perspective. This behavior goes against everything Yoga Alliance stands for as well as the traditional yogic principles. I was completely taken back, offended and in utter shock of how this teacher conducted himself, as well as several other student who also packed up and left at that point. The experience continued as several of us left with a comment of, \"well I see I've lost half of the class with that speech.\"\n\nWhen it comes down to it, it's YOUR time, YOUR money and, most importantly, YOUR body. So if you feel like YOUR mind and body aren't benefiting, you have the right to leave. If you feel the teacher is showing off, is not in touch with YOU or YOUR needs, is too pushy or abusive or inappropriate; or, if the class is not YOUR speed, level or serving YOUR needs, it's OK to leave. Doing so in a non-disruptive, quiet manner as this student tonight did was the right thing to do. The only person not showing respect or etiquette tonight was the instructor. \n\nAny instructor should respect YOUR decision and follow up with you privately for feedback later; not during the middle of class with other students."^^ . .
