"Usually when we Urban Hike in Pittsburgh, we would generally rely on the bus system, but this time I decided to navigate the streets and use on street parking. I try to use the public transportation system when available to me in any city that I might Urban Hike in. But today, it was rainy and sort of dreary and very windy with a chill in the air, so I opted to fight the traffic. I was able to use the google map system on my phone and GPS to the Carnegie Museum of Art quite easily. I was able to find on street parking across from the museum near the University, which was an added plus. The parking is by coin or credit card in the machine and gives 3 hours of parking for $7. I wish I had found a garage so I didn't have to keep an eye on my watch so much..but maybe next time.\n\nIt was a little chilly walking over to the museum entrance, but once inside we forgot about the cold air outside..it was time to reveal in the beauty of the past. With the entrance price of $17 per adult and given a $2 off ticket for myself and hubby for being AARP members, it wasn't that bad for four of us. Tony and I was traveling with my daughter, Noel and her boyfriend, Adam. With the price of admission you also get the Carnegie Art Museum, both museums in one is awesome.\n\nWe started our tour in the Ancient Architectural Hall with Noel and Adam leading the way. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the ancient ruins that were replicas representing the real architectural jewels in Greece, Rome and other fabulous locations in Europe. Next we took our journey to the Dinosaur Hall, to see the dinosaur bones and replicas. Man....now talk about huge and realistic. This sectionI found very fascinating. We were able to see a huge tortoise skeletal frame and also animals that were realistically taxidermy style. The Saber Tooth Tiger and the Wooly Mammoth were both very fascinating to me. Next in the same hall, we enjoyed the display of stones, gems and minerals from around the world. I always enjoy this section. The gemstones are sparkling and absolutely gorgeous: Definitely my favorite area in the entire museum.\n\nWe were able to see some Ancient Egyptian relics along with mummified bodies. There was displays of their jewels and pottery. Next we visited the Works of Art. ART is ART, it is in the eye of the beholders, and some of the New Age Modern stuff looses me in translation. I prefer the older pieces of artwork in the portraits depicting people from Europe and Middle Ages. We had a wonderful day exploring all three floors of this amazing museum.. This was actually the second visit for my daughter, Noel and myself. I highly recommend this museum. Definitely worth the cost and I would definitely visit this museum for a third time if I was in the area again and with a few extra hours to kill. I highly recommend you check this out...."^^ .
