"To whom it may concern, or anyone who may listen and actually care:\n\nI want to tell you a frightening, horrible story....more of a documentary than a story...in that it was our actual experience with US Airways/American Airlines. \n\nWe had 10 of us traveling from Nassau to Charlotte and then to Phoenix. We were scheduled to leave Nassau at 4:30 pm on July 15th. We were traveling with 4 children and 6 adults. We arrived at Nassau airport at 1:30. We wanted to leave plenty of time being that it was an international flight. *Our plane is delayed. It does not show up in Nassau until 5:15. We finally leave Nassau at 6:00. We let the flight crew know that 10 of us are to get on flight 463 from Charlotte to Phoenix at 7:59 pm. The flight is landing at Charlotte at 7:45 pm or so and we can tell it will be close. We were at gate B9 and we needed to get to B12. We were excited because they were literally across the hall from each other. My father in law ran over to the gate as soon as we landed and the gate was still open. The lady says get on I am about to close the door. He pointed to us and said his family was coming. (We are close enough that we can see him pointing.). She says \"oh no, that's too many people!\" and closes the door!!!!\n\nWe now watch the plane we are supposed to be on sitting at the gate, but can't get on. We all go to customer service where we meet Shavon. Shavon wasn't too concerned about our problem. She says it isn't US Airways fault they picked us up late. She offers us a flight at 1 pm roughly the next day....for 5 of us. The other 5 will have to fly out around 2:30. OR...fly to Dallas that night, sleep in airport for 8 hours, and fly to Phoenix the next morning. I demand a manager at this point. Shavon goes to the back and brings out her friend. She says all the managers are busy. Her friend does manage to get 4 people on a 9 am direct flight and 6 of us on a 1 pm flight. This is after a bunch of arguing, crying from the kids and wives. \n\nNow I ask where they will be putting us to stay for the evening. The response I get was \"No where. This isn't our fault. We can give you a coupon for a hotel. Nothing else. No flight voucher, no refunds, no hotel room.\" I proceed to call the phone number for our \"hotel discount\". They have 1 hotel. Baymont Suites in Charlotte. FEEL FREE TO LOOK UP THE REVIEWS. They just had a prostitution ring bust. Real dive. The best part is, when I looked up the reviews, I found the same rates online that my super coupon gave me. So essentially, US Airways/American Airlines, is giving us nothing. \n\nSo after 3 hours of this mess, we eat an expensive dinner at a hotel that we have to pay $180 a night for because we won't sleep at the Baymont. There are 2 big soccer games in Charlotte so most hotels didn't have 3 rooms.\n\nNo one knows where our luggage is. We will be wearing all the same clothes 2 days in a row. \n\nMy 8 year old niece, who spent a great deal of money for her pageant tomorrow morning in Phoenix, will now miss it. \n\nSome of the adults will miss a day of work they hadn't taken off. \n\nMy sister in law spent her birthday in Charlotte, instead of Phoenix with her actual parents. \n\nWe purchased lotions and things in Nassau to take home. Many were $20+. When we came back to airport this morning, they wouldn't let us bring them through security. Told us we should have put in our checked in luggage. WE DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS!!!! So they throw away our souvenirs. \n\nNo one cares at US Airways/American Airlines. It isn't their fault is all they will say. \n\nI work at a resort in Scottsdale. I will make sure I let every traveler I meet know the headaches of this airline. I will Yelp it, Facebook it, Instagram it, BBB it, Attorney General letter...I am going to scream from the mountain tops to make sure everyone knows \"it isn't their fault.\""^^ . .
